What we're doing

Most high schools don't have an esports team.
We're the one that meets students where they already are: their phones.

Traditional school esports needs a budget, a coach, a lab full of PCs, and a buy-in that small or under-resourced schools just can't make. Thryve cuts the gear out entirely. Every event is a Supercell mobile title, Brawl Stars or Clash Royale, playable on any phone made in the last seven years.

We run brackets every weekend, coach replays on weeknights, and connect students with peers in 30+ states. Members have logged top-500 finishes globally, coached friends from rookie to challenger, and run their own school chapters.

From the community

A student. A parent. An esports coordinator.

I joined for the brackets, stayed for the lobby. We scrim like every night now. Got to top 32 in the spring trios cup with two kids I'd never met before this. First time I've actually had "teammates" in Brawl, not just randoms.

Honestly I was skeptical at first because it sounded too good to be free. But my kid is on his phone less doomscrolling and more actually playing toward something. The Discord is way more chill than I expected. No complaints.

Our school doesn't have an esports program and probably never will. Thryve was the easiest way to give kids who weren't into traditional sports something of their own. Took me one email to get our students plugged in.

Frequently asked

Things students & parents ask us.

Is Thryve actually free?

Yes. No entry fees, no required hardware, no premium tier. Thryve runs as a Colorado nonprofit and covers operating costs through optional tips and grants, none of which are passed on to students.

Are there free high school Brawl Stars tournaments online?

Yes. Thryve HS Esports runs free online Brawl Stars tournaments for high school students every week. Events are 3v3 trio brackets, played from any phone, and require no PC or paid entry. Sign-ups happen inside the Thryve Discord.

Are there high school Clash Royale tournaments?

Yes. Thryve runs free online 1v1 Clash Royale tournaments for high schoolers every week, including the ongoing Thryve Spring Ladder Cup series. They are double-elimination with a top-32 cut. Free to enter. Open to any current high schooler.

Is Thryve open to students outside Colorado?

Yes. Thryve is a Colorado-based nonprofit but every tournament is played online over Discord, so any U.S. high schooler with a phone can participate. Thryve currently has members from over 30 states across the country.

How often does Thryve run tournaments?

Thryve runs tournaments seasonally: fall, winter, and spring. Each season includes a multi-week ladder cup, weekend brackets, and special events like school-vs-school showmatches. Off-season members can still scrim daily inside Discord.

Do I need to be on a high school esports team to join?

No. Most Thryve members are not on a school esports team. Their schools don’t have one. Thryve was built specifically for students at schools without an esports program. Any current high school student can join, regardless of school affiliation.

Which games does Thryve compete in?

Two Supercell mobile titles right now: Brawl Stars (3v3 trio events, captains-draft maps) and Clash Royale (1v1 ladder cups, double-elim brackets). New titles are evaluated each season based on member demand.

Do I need a special phone or device?

If your phone runs Brawl Stars or Clash Royale, you're set. Both Supercell titles run smoothly on iPhones and Android devices made in the last seven years.

How do I sign up for a tournament?

All tournament sign-ups happen inside the Thryve Discord. Click any Join Discord button on this page, verify your school in #welcome, then watch the #tournaments channel.

Can my school become a Thryve partner school?

Yes. Schools, after-school programs, and youth nonprofits can partner with Thryve to run events for their students. Email sstotey02@bvsd.org with your school's name and a quick note about your students.

Is Thryve affiliated with Supercell?

No. Thryve is an independent student-led nonprofit. Brawl Stars and Clash Royale are trademarks of Supercell. We just love their games and use them as the platform for high school esports because they're free to play and accessible.
